Balloons Unlimited of Wisconsin, Inc.

Procedures and Policies

Our years of balloon experience have made us cognizant of the fact that we are involved with a very specialized service that is weather dependent outside the understanding of the general public. It is incumbent on us to be honest and forthright about the limitations and financial realities of the service we provide. We recognize the need for open communication with our customers in order to earn the trust they place in us.

We pledge honest and open answers to inquiries from our customers and we provide the following information for dissemination to potential customers and competitors as well.

The information provided here is also in printed form in our brochure, as well as in the packages which come with our tickets.

We encourage inquiries from customers at any time. Please phone us at (262) 593-8444.

Procedures

WEATHER OUTS

The pilot has a responsibility to keep his passengers and his aircraft safe on their flight. He has specialized education, training and experience in balloon operations. He gathers weather information from several sources as well as his own observations.

On sunrise flights, the pilot must make a decision before 4:00 a.m. as to what weather conditions will be when he finishes the flight. The weather information he gets and his experience with similar conditions in the past may lead him to a decision that is not immediately clear to the untrained person.

No one likes to get the news that their flight is "cancelled because of unsuitable weather". If your flight is weathered out, no matter how disappointing it may be, we ask that you accept the pilot's decision as having been made with your best interest in mind.

SUNRISE FLIGHTS

When your make your reservation for a sunrise flight, we will tell you what time we will make the weather decision and make your "wake-up" phone call, between 4 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., depending on the time of the flying season. We will make the "wake-up" call only if the weather is suitable and the flight is going. We don't see much point in waking you up to tell you that we can't fly. If the flight is weathered out, we will place a recording on our reservation phone, (262) 593-8444. You are encouraged to check the recording if you think you may have missed your "wake-up" call. The recording will tell you what weather condition makes the weather unsuitable. Passengers should not come to the launch site unless we phone with the "wake-up" call.

If the flight is weathered out, it is your responsibility to contact us during office hours to set up a new reservation.

SUNSET FLIGHTS

When you make your reservation for a sunset flight, we will tell you what time we will make the weather decision phone to let you know if the weather is suitable or not. This call will come between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. for most of the flying season. If the flight is weathered out, you may reserve another date at that time if you wish.

Policies

RESERVATION CHANGE OR CANCELLATION

We do not "overbook" our flights. When you have made a reservation, you have a space on that flight and if weather permits, you will get your flight. In return, you must advise us at least 72 hours in advance if you wish to change or cancel your reservation. If you give us less than 72 hours notice, we will make an effort to find someone to replace you. If we cannot find a replacement and if the weather turns out suitable so that the flight takes place, we will void your tickets. Emergencies of a medical or personal nature will be dealt with on an individual basis.

REFUND POLICY

The full purchase price will be refunded for tickets received in our office within thirty (30) days of issue if there has been no reservation made for a flight while the ticket was effective. The only exception to this is that tickets purchased during November or December for Christmas gifts will not be subject to the refund fee if received on or before January 25 of the following year.

Tickets not received within thirty (30) days of issue or tickets purchased at the same time a reservation was made or tickets that were purchased and had a reservation made prior to thirty (30) days of issue will be assessed a refund fee of $30.

Someone who presents a ticket, however acquired, can claim a flight, therefore, no refunds of expired, lost or void tickets will be made under any circumstances.
